Birra Peroni is a family business founded in a small town called Vigevano in Italy in 1846. The company was later moved in 1864 to Rome by Giovanni Peroni.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, the company became one of the most important and largest breweries in Italy. In 1963, Nastro Azzurro was launched as a premium lager intended to be exported outside Italy. The name translates to “blue ribbon” and refers to an award that the ocean liner SS Rex received in 1933.
