📝 What is your name and role at Arvid Nordquist?
💬 “My name is Johan Fessé and I have been working as a Business Controller at Arvid Nordquist for seven years, and for the past year I have had a leadership role. I joined Arvid Nordquist in 2016 in connection with the Kellogg’s and Pringles deal. Before that, I worked at Menigo and have a total of around 20 years of experience in the food industry, including from Servera and Norrmejerier. My role as Business Controller is primarily about continuously following up on the business and ensuring that the company is on the right track to achieve its goals in sales and other business areas.” An important part of my role is to develop data-driven decision-making data that helps the business make informed decisions at both strategic and tactical levels.”
📝 What qualities are good to have in your profession?
💬 “The ability to understand both the details and the big picture at the same time. At a detailed level, the analysis needs to be thorough and well-thought-out in order to serve as a reliable basis for further decisions. While an important part of my role is working with numbers and analytics, I also need to understand the industry, our products and categories in depth. It is at least as important to build strong relationships with colleagues and experts in the company, as they are the ones who help to push my data through the decision-making processes. Basically, you need a solid degree in economics or civil engineering.”
📝 What are you passionate about in your role?
💬 “Especially the challenge of getting colleagues to understand the relationships behind the analyses. At the same time, I myself need to have a deep understanding of the category and how producers, customers and consumers act within it. Somewhere in the middle of these variables, my analysis should work like a compass – it’s not easy, but it’s an exciting challenge. Another thing that is stimulating is that I often get into the process early, both with product launches and completely new business.”
📝 What is the best thing about working as a Business Controller at Arvid Nordquist?
💬 “We have many brands under our umbrella, which contributes to a varied working day for the team. This creates a good dynamic as we not only work with a certain part of a brand’s business, but within different categories and brands. The fact that our brands and products are well-known FMCG products is a bonus in everyday work, as they are easier to relate to, both personally and in interaction with others. In addition to these things, it feels both challenging and fun to have so many highly skilled colleagues as at Arvid Nordquist!”
