Jules Destrooper

Driven by his passion, merchant Jules Destrooper combined the best spices he imported from Africa and Asia with nature’s finest ingredients. That’s how he achieved the unique taste of his Almond Thins, which so many generations around the world came to enjoy. In 1886, he founded the biscuit company that still bears his name, Jules Destrooper. After the success of his Almond Thins, he created his own variant of the traditional Belgian butter waffle. His Butter Crisps were launched in 1890. In 1911, Almond Thins won the prestigious gold at the renowned food fair in Paris. Other international recognitions led him to start exporting the products.

Today the company is run by the fourth generation. The same secret recipe that Jules Destrooper created is still used. Of course, 125 years of development means that modern manufacturing methods are now used to ensure the highest quality and hygiene, but the original recipe will never be changed. Just like in 1886, Jules Destrooper’s cookies are completely free from preservatives and artificial colors and flavoring agents. Each cookie is the result of an effort to offer natural products based on creamy butter, fresh eggs, flour and carefully selected sugar.
